Clerk/Receptionist

Job Summary:

Maintains all department functions including: billing, scheduling, maintaining medical records, establishing procedures and all clerical support. OSHA Bloodborne Pathogens Class I.

 

 

 

Job Qualifications:

Education:

High School graduate or equivalent


Personal Job-Related Skills:

Working knowledge of customer service, calculator, fax machine and copiers. Familiar with operating computers and knowledge of general clerical duties.


Physical and Mental Requirements:

Duties of the position require intermittent walking, sitting, and standing. Some bending, stooping and reaching is required with the lifting of items up to a weight of 40 pounds

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

 

=         Document all patient contact.                                                                                   

=         Call Junior Administrative Assistant by 7:00 a.m. if unable to report to work.        

=         Maintain records of clinic charges, revenue and expenses, reporting them daily to the billing area of the clinic.                                                                   

=         Process check requests to pay all bills in a timely fashion, including payroll.         

=         Maintain communication with medical staff and clinic director.                

=         Greet and register patients as they enter the clinic.                                                

=         Answer telephones, make appointments and route other calls, documenting all messages.

=         Assemble an accurate and complete medical chart for new patients and update charts of established patients; ensure all necessary information is included in the chart.            

=         Gain copies of insurance cards, drivers’ licenses, etc.                                                           

=         Get signatures of consent for treatment, insurance, HIPAA.                                    

=         Pull and re-file medical charts as needed; copy and mail any records requested.  

=         Maintain area and equipment; make copies of forms as needed.                           

=         Miscellaneous office duties, including filing and copying.                                       

=         Collect in-office and credit card payments; provide receipts.                                              

=         Enter patient information and financial transactions in billing and reports.                       

=         Balance daily transactions and prepare superbills and money for the billing department.

=         Keep the lobby and reception area neat and orderly.                                                          

=         Any other duties as needed.

                       

Other Significant Requirements:

=         Maintains confidentiality while working with confidential matters on a daily basis.          

=         Presents strong public relations skills.

=        Maintains a courteous, mature, and friendly disposition at all times.

=        Keeps abreast of changes in policies and laws regarding billing.

=        Follows safety guidelines and policies for DHCHD

=        Any other assignments as assigned
